The CADO system has been designed to return a maximum of 300 results with any
search. If there are more than 300 results for your search, you will need to
refine your search appropriately.
There are two keyword fields that can be used to search on. These fields can be
used individually or in combination. Using these fields, the search will look
at the beginning of each individual word within the company name for a match.
Single Keyword Search
In a Single Keyword Search
, the search will look for that value at the beginning of every word in the
Search name field. If multiple words are entered into the one keyword field,
that entire string will be searched on. A wildcard character will automatically
be appended to the end of the keyword string.
Multiple Keyword Search
In a Multiple Keyword Search
, the search will look for both keywords in the name in any order. Both words
will need to be located at the beginning of words in the name. Wildcard
characters will automatically be added to the end of both keyword values.
Company Number
A Company Number Search
can be used to search a single company number. Enter the company number in the
Company Number box. If a match is found, the user will be taken directly to the
Company Details page for that company number.
Helpful Hints
-
If not sure about the spelling of a keyword, search all variations, e.g. Smith,
Smyth
-
Instead of the complete keyword, consider using a portion of the keyword, e.g.
use "contract" as opposed to "contractors"
-
Certain Special Characters and punctuation, if entered into the fields, they
will be stripped out before attempting the search. These characters are
identifed in the table below
-
A list of Common Keywords can be referenced below. If you try to search on a
common keyword only, you will likely get a message indicating 'to refine your
search criteria and try again'. You will need to try searching a common keyword
and another keyword in order to find the company you are looking for.
-
If searching on initials, spaces, periods, ampersands, etc they will be
stripped out so the search is done just on the initial. Example: R.C., R C, R
& C, are all searched as RC
-
Note: some company numbers assigned on the old
VAX system end in letters: I for Insurance companies, D for Dominion companies,
F for Foreign companies and M for Domestic companies. For example, Company
number 501I is AMEX Assurance Company. Take care not to confuse the letter " I
" with the number " 1 ".
