WHAT IS A LICENSEE?

A 'Licensee' is a pre-approved firm that has paid an annual fee in order to conduct unlimited searching of the Registry of Companies and Deeds (CADO) system over the Internet. Each 'Licensee' can register up to a maximum of 3 per purchased license who will be able to conduct searching of deeds registrations (back to 1980 for deeds index information; 1982 for documents); corporate registrations (all company profile information; corporate documents scanned since June 2004) and mechanics' liens searches (for registrations since integrated into CADO). For more information please see CADO Frequently Asked Questions .

WHAT
IS A LICENSED USER?

A 'Licensed User' is an individual that has been registered under a 'Licensee' and has been set up to do unlimited searching. They may also be set up to use the Licensee Pre-Authorized Debit for making payments when filing documents on behalf of the Licensee or the Licensee clients. If not set up to pay by Pre-Authorized Debit, the user will still be able to file company documents online using a credit card.

Each 'Licensed User' will be assigned a unique User ID and password which they will use to log into the application.

WHAT
IS THE BENEFIT OF BEING A LICENSED USER/LICENSEE?

There are a number of benefits to becoming a Licensed User/Licensee:

  • Unlimited searching of deeds registrations. If accessing the CADO application as a General User, a fee is charged on every search that is conducted as well as another fee to view the details of each registration. Each Licensee pays a flat yearly rate that allows all licensed users registered under the company unlimited searching and viewing of registration details without additional recurring costs.
  • Setting up a Pre-Authorized Debit account for a Licensee means that all licensed users registered by the Licensee will be able to use the same account number and will not have to have corporate credit cards to make payments. Instead of having to enter the credit card information every time a company document is filed, the Licensee bank account will be automatically deducted the amount required for filing the specific document.
